Jim Higgins, a professional logger, designed the original LogSaver to be safer and easier to use. By using special plastic, he prevented all of the problems caused by metail parts in logs. Designing the LogSaver to clip into the face of the hammer kept his hands out of the striking zone.
LogSavers were quickly accepted by numerous logging operations and Higgins teamed up with UC Coatings, the leading company in preventing degrade from end checking, to sell and distribute LogSavers. Customer feedback led to the development of the FlitchSaver and added another safe and practical that protects and enhances the value of logs and lumber.
